Ricoh GX200 firmware update released

Japan's Ricoh Co. Ltd. has released a firmware update for its GX200 digital camera that corrects a couple of bugs in the device's operation.

The first change in Ricoh GX200 firmware v1.25 fixes a problem whereby the orientation information may be incorrectly recorded on images shot using the camera's long-time exposure function. A second bug that is squashed in GX200 v1.25 relates to the camera's playback zoom, and could in certain conditions lead to the position display window appearing incorrectly. Specifically, the problem could occur when using the playback zoom with Auto Rotate enabled, and switching between a variety of portrait and landscape-mode images using the "ADJ" rocker.

As well as fixing these two issues, the new firmware for the Ricoh GX200 also rolls in the changes made in previous firmware versions, the most recent of which was v1.20 released in December 2008. More details on how to check your camera's firmware version and how to apply the GX200 firmware update can be found on Ricoh's website.
