Epson America Inc. has today announced its new Perfection V600 Photo scanner, which slots below the existing V700 and V750 models in the product line. The Epson V600 offers an optical resolution of 6,400 x 9,600 dpi, and a Dmax of 3.4.

For photographers, the V600 includes a built-in TPU, allowing scanning of both 35mm slides and negatives, as well as medium format panoramic film up to 6 x 22cm. Digital ICE for Film technology helps remove scratches and dust from negative or positive scans, while Digital ICE for Prints uses a combination of infrared and dual-direction scanning to reconstruct prints damaged by creases or tears. Epson's own Easy Photo Fix technology is included in the V600's drivers, and helps restore faded colors.in prints, slides or negatives. Adobe Photoshop Elements is included in the product bundle.

The Epson V600 also includes several features that allow it to double as an office / document scanner. The V600 is capable of scanning not only documents up to 8.5" x 11.7", but also 3D objects. Four buttons on the front panel can be customised, and default to providing one-touch scanning, copying, scan-to-email and scan-to-PDF functions. The product bundle also includes ABBYY FineReader Sprint Plus OCR software.

The Perfection V600 Photo is built around a mercury-free ReadyScan LED, allowing immediate scanning without no warm up time, and reduced power consumption. USB 2.0 High Speed connectivity is included, and the Epson V600 is compatible with the latest operating systems including Windows 7 and Mac OS X v10.6 (Snow Leopard).

Epson Delivers High-Performance, High-Quality Scanning for Under $250

LONG BEACH, Calif., – Sept. 15, 2009 – Today, Epson America unveiled the Epson Perfection® V600 Photo scanner, a new mid-range scanning solution offering advanced performance for photos, film, slides, and everyday documents. Delivering outstanding resolution and extensive versatility, the Perfection V600 scanner features 6400 x 9600 dpi resolution1 and 3.4 Dmax for creating beautiful high-quality enlargements up to 17” x 22”. The Perfection V600 scanner provides a complete photo restoration solution, using patented DIGITAL ICE® technology to remove the appearance of dust and scratches from film and the appearance of tears and creases from old, long-neglected photos. Additionally, the Perfection V600 features Epson Easy Photo Fix® technology to restore faded color photos with just one touch of a button. The scanner also features a built-in transparency unit (TPU) for 35mm slides, negatives and medium-format panoramic film up to 6 x 22 cm.

Scanning everything from invoices and receipts to photos and 3D objects, the Perfection V600 enables users to instantly scan, copy, scan-to-e-mail and create PDFs with four push customizable buttons. In addition, Epson’s exclusive ReadyScan LED technology allows for faster scan speeds with no warm-up time and increased energy efficiency. This eco-friendly technology consumes less energy than traditional cold cathode fluorescent lamps and contains no mercury. Included are Adobe PhotoShop® Elements for advanced photo editing and ABBYY® Fine Reader® Sprint Plus OCR for converting scanned documents into editable text.

The Epson Perfection V600 Photo will be available in mid-October for $249.99 (estimated street price) at online photo and electronic stores, computer super stores, office superstores, consumer electronics stores, photo specialty stores and on the Epson Store Web site (www.epsonstore.com).
