Company consistently gains patents in automatic video editing and related multimedia techniques

LAS VEGAS, NV – January 10, 2010 – (Virtual Press Office) - muvee, the pioneer and leader in home movie-making software and services, today announced the award of two further patents in Japan which were originally filed in 2000. These bring muvee to a total of ten patents granted in the field of automatic video editing – a technique which underpins all muvee's products. muvee has previously been awarded patents for various techniques including video analysis, automatic editing, intercutting in video clips and video and media production.

muvee filed its first patent application on December 16th 1999. Since then it has been granted 10 patents (with others allowed) in the US, UK, Europe, Singapore, Japan and Korea. Other patent applications in those jurisdictions are also currently pending.

"Patenting is a long term play. Some of the patent applications we first filed over 10 years ago are just starting to be granted in multiple jurisdictions," said Dr. Pete Kellock, Founder and Lead Inventor, muvee. "Throughout this period the team has been continuously inventing and filing patents so there are many more patents in the pipeline. We've developed such a wide range of novel tools and techniques and I'm pleased we've been able to protect the key intellectual property of these innovations."

muvee's patented technology is deployed around the world into a range of products for the PC and Cloud and can also be found embedded into nearly 100 models of devices such as cameras and phones. The development team in Singapore is hand-picked from 15 different countries and is made up of former musicians, photographers and video-editing producers with computer science and software engineering educations.

"The award of our tenth patent will certainly speed our R&D teams forward as we further increase our emphasis on leading by innovation in the field that we have pioneered," Kellock said. "Ten years on, we are still just scratching the surface in many of our products. Ten years on, some of the claims from our earliest patents are still finding their way into our latest products, and many will be featured in products that are now in the pipeline."
