Nikon Inc. has released an updated version of its Image Authentication software, which is compatible with a variety of the company's digital SLRs.

The newly issued Nikon Image Authentication Software v1.1.1 for Windows adds compatibility with Microsoft's latest Windows 7 operating system in Home Basic, Home Premium, Professional, Enterprise, and Ultimate editions, for both 32-bit and 64-bit versions. Compatibility is also added for 64-bit Windows Vista Home Basic, Home Premium, Business, Enterprise, and Ultimate editions.

In all cases, 64-bit compatibility is restricted to the program running as a 32-bit application, rather than as a native 64-bit application.

One final change is the addition of support for Nikon Message Center 2.

Nikon's Image Authentication software verifies the authenticity of images captured in JPEG, TIFF or Raw (.NEF) file formats on compatible Nikon digital SLRs, and whether or not the images have been processed or edited in any way. Compatible cameras include the D200, D2Hs, D2X, D2Xs, D3, D3X, D300, D300S, and D700 digital SLRs. In some cases, the camera's firmware must be updated to enable compatibility with the application. More details can be found on the Nikon website.
