SAN DIEGO, April 13 /PRNewswire/ -- PhotoBin.com, an online archiving, photo sharing and organizing consumer website, today announces the addition of photo scanning services to its core product offerings, which include personalized photo websites, photo galleries, prints and photo-based products and gifts.

PhotoBin now offers consumers a simple, easy, affordable photo scanning service, with pricing as low as $.08 per scan. To have photos scanned, customers place their order online at http://www.PhotoBin.com. Scan customers are then sent a box with packaging material, which they fill and return. Drop-off service is available in the San Diego area. Consumers who want to scan photos have three easy options: the Mini-Box, the Standard, or the Bulk service. PhotoBin's Mini-Box is $35.99plus shipping to scan up to 300 photos. The Standard is $89.99 plus shipping to scan 301 to 1000 photos. And the bulk service for more than 1000 is $.08 per scan. All scanning orders are scanned at the standard print quality resolution of 300 dpi and include the customer's choice of scans on CD or DVD. Higher resolutions, additional CDs or DVDs, and rush service is also available.

"With scanning, and all of our products and services, we want to do something with photography on a very personal level," said Steve Weber, founder and CEO of PhotoBin. "PhotoBin is on a mission to affordably help everyone with photos preserve and reconnect with their personal histories. For example, I recently opened an old shoebox of photos and felt that incredible suspension of time - old shots with school friends, my kids' birthday parties, anniversaries, graduations, all once-in-a-lifetime moments that I wanted to share, but they were all prints," says Weber. "We want to make it easy for families to build a new memory highway, starting with photo scanning."

Customers have the option of having PhotoBin include a box and the shipping or, for Bulk orders, using their own box and shipping method. When a Mini-Box or Standard photo scan order is received, the box is shipped with bubble wrap and microfoam material along with a pre-paid United Parcel Service (UPS) shipping label. After taping up the box, they affix the pre-paid and pre-addressed shipping label to PhotoBin and drop off at a UPS outlet.

Email confirmations and tracking numbers keep customers informed at each step, with scan services usually taking one to two business days to complete upon receipt of photos. Bulk orders may require more time.

Original, non-copyright photo prints may be submitted in any combination of the following sizes: 3" x 5"; 4" x 6"; and 5" x 7". Photos are saved to CD or DVD and can be uploaded to a personalized online PhotoBin Gallery website for fast online access and sharing. Custom orders of larger than 5" x 7" photo-size formats require an estimate.

Upon receipt, photos are carefully logged and scanned on site, and originals are locked in the company's fire safe for added security. Upon completing the order, the original photos and CD/DVDs ordered are shipped back to the consumer via UPS.
