Olympus' E-P2 digital camera. Copyright 2009, Imaging Resource. PRESS RELEASE: Olympus celebrates 70 per cent market share in the 'mirrorless' camera category by offering a two year Australian warranty across its PEN range

Sydney, Australia 2 August 2010: In celebration of recently released GfK figures reporting Olympus' 70 per cent market share in the 'mirrorless' camera category[1], Australians looking to buy a PEN camera can now walk away with the extra confidence of a two year Australian warranty.

An Australian first, the two year warranty offered by Olympus presents a great incentive for Australians to buy cameras and lenses domestically and will benefit both retailers and consumers alike. Consumers will have a greater peace of mind knowing they are buying from a trusted brand like Olympus that is confident in the performance of its products. Similarly, retailers are presented with a strong point of difference to sell product ahead of online offers coming from overseas markets.

Marc Radatt, Managing Director, Olympus Imaging Australia commented: "We're incredibly proud of our PEN line-up in Australia and feedback from customers and retailers is pointing positively towards ongoing uptake of the 'mirrorless' Micro Four Thirds System interchangeable lens digital camera. The widely acclaimed Olympus PEN E-P1, E-P2 and E-PL1 digital cameras are designed to equip even the most inexperienced photographers with the ability to take high quality images and this latest move to extend our one year international warranty to a two year Australian warranty is testament to our confidence in the performance of our PEN products."

Available from authorised Australian retailers on any purchase from the Olympus PEN range including the PEN E-P1, E-P2 and E-PL1 and all lenses*, Australian customers will be entitled to a two year guarantee by simply registering their purchase on www.olympus.com.au

On the back of this offer, Olympus has also launched the Olympus Challenge, offering a customer satisfaction guarantee to any customer that purchases a PEN camera between 1 July to 30 September 2010. The offer is available across Olympus PEN E-P1, E-P2 and E-PL1 cameras.

The PEN category has continued to revolutionise photography in the digital era since its announcement in July 2009 and has received numerous global accolades, including the TIPA award for 'Best Compact System Entry Level Camera' for PEN E-PL1, best European Camera 2009-2010 for the PEN E-P1 at the EISA Awards, as well as the 'Innovation of the Year' award from Australian Camera Magazine in 2009 for the PEN E-P1.
