Hauppauge, NY – November 18th, 2010 – Zoom introduces an all-new firmware update (Version 1.70) for the H4n Handy Recorder. The update will allow independent level controls on the unit's two XLR inputs, adding a new level of versatility to the most popular handheld recorder on the market. This feature will greatly benefit those who use the H4n for making films or videos.

The H4n has become the "go to" solution for DSLR shooters because of its incredibly sensitive onboard microphones and 4-channel recording capabilities. Now you can set a boom mic at one level, a wireless lavalier at another and have the option to capture the natural ambiance of a location via the unit's on-board microphones and XLR inputs. This makes your audio/video post-production a snap.

The stereo WAV file can then be separated into two mono files in your video editing program or with the included Cubase LE, for even greater control. In addition, this new functions works in Stamina Mode, which allows for 11 hours of continuous recording.

"This firmware update is especially important for people who use the H4n for video production and will be well-received by DSLR shooters," says Mark Wilder, Director of Marketing at Samson Technologies, the U.S. Distributor for Zoom. "Having independent level control over two different sound sources simultaneously will give you greater control on set and in post-production."
