London, UK, 26th September 2011 -- Canon Europe today launches a pan-European campaign to educate and inspire entry level DSLR users about photography. The Canon ‘EOS Adventure’ campaign combines a series of educational features, including video tutorials from leading professional photographers, together with a pan-European photography competition and media partnership.

Created to support the current pan-European EOS ATL campaign, the programme has been developed in collaboration with Yahoo! and includes a dedicated Canon EOS Adventure branded area on the Yahoo! website and Flickr gallery.

The EOS Adventure campaign aims to encourage amateur photographers to take their photography adventure to the next level and hone their photography skills by providing inspiration, education and an opportunity to showcase their work to the Yahoo! and Flickr communities.

The Canon branded area on Yahoo! contains a series of photography tutorials from four influential European photographers including commercial and brand photographer Adam Swords, wildlife photographer Jamie Crawford, creator of popular German photo magazine KWERFELDEIN Martin Gommel, and botanical photographer Rachel Warne. Each professional photographer will provide expert advice on developing photography skills, exploring different photography techniques including aperture and depth of field, exposure, movement and light.

A pan-European competition will run alongside the online assets and offer users the chance to win their very own EOS Adventure; an exclusive photography adventure in Kenya’s Masai Mara National Reserve with Canon’s wildlife photography experts, Jonathan and Angela Scott, ‘The Big Cat People’. Visitors to the EOS Adventure website will be encouraged to use their new photography skills and enter the resulting shots into the competition via the dedicated EOS Adventure page of the Yahoo! site. Canon’s judging panel will assess the entrants and pick the grand prize winner after the competition closes.

Users are encouraged to submit as many photos as possible under each different category to be in with a chance to win exclusive Canon products. For hints on tips on their photography skills, users can also upload their images to the Flickr gallery where Canon’s experts will be providing regular feedback.

Nigel Taylor, Marketing Communications Director at Canon Europe comments: “Our aim is to empower and inspire photographers of all levels to take their photography to the next level and explore just how much they can achieve with their DSLR. The EOS Adventure gives consumers the tools and knowledge they need to understand just how the Canon EOS System can kick start their photography adventure.”

James Tipple, VP Marketing, Yahoo! EMEA, comments: “The partnership between Canon and Yahoo! was a natural fit due to the huge community of passionate photography enthusiasts active on Yahoo! and Flickr. This is a fantastic example of how collaborating with brands such as Canon, Yahoo!, the premier digital media company, can create relevant and interactive digital media campaigns that truly engage with their target audience -- with the power of the Science, Art and Scale.”

The Canon EOS Adventure competition will run in eight European countries (UK, Germany, France, Italy, Netherlands, Spain, Switzerland, Poland) from Monday 26th September 2011 until Sunday 20th November 2011.
