Partners with Leading Storytellers and Photographers to Offer Inspiration and Drive Photo Book Creation

REDWOOD CITY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Shutterfly, Inc. (NASDAQ:SFLY), a leading Internet-based social expression and personal publishing service, today announced its new online Storytelling destination and 30 new photo book designs, to meet the continued consumer demand to find more creative ways to preserve and share stories.

"Our new Storytelling destination brings the power of words, photography and design together to inspire and invite our readers to identify and share their own stories through photo books," said Heather Maddan, Shutterfly's Chief Storyteller. "Whether it's sharing tips for taking great photos of your kids, suggesting innovative ways to caption your story or offering page layout advice from professional designers, Shutterfly customers will find help in telling their stories of special occasions and everyday moments."

Focused on the three components of photo book creation — photography, storytelling and design, Shutterfly's new Storytelling destination offers readers fresh inspiration every week. At launch, Shutterfly Storytelling will feature content from photographer Jason Lee, photojournalist Thor Swift, Six-Word Memoir founder Larry Smith, and modern memory keeper Ali Edwards. Later in October, content will embrace stories themed to celebrate life and in November content will inspire family tradition-themed storytelling.

As Shutterfly's photo book expert and chief storyteller, Heather Maddan helps people do more with their pictures and bring them to life in photo books. She provides inspiration and creative tips on how to best tell stories with photos using Shutterfly's award-winning photo books.

Stunning New Photo Book Styles
To celebrate the launch of the Storytelling destination, Shutterfly is introducing stunning new photo book styles that include pre-designed page templates or idea pages and embellishments so customers can further personalize their books using text and captions to complement their photos just the way they want. Among the new themes introduced are Travel Snapshots, a travel journal, and Favorite Recipes, a recipe book.

"We know customers are capturing memories throughout the year, across multiple occasions and the combination of Shutterfly's exclusive styles and our inspirational Storytelling destination allow customers to take memories they've captured throughout the year and easily transform them into one-of-a-kind stories they can share with family and friends," said Maddan.

Shutterfly is also introducing the idea of guided styles that inspire new ways of telling stories and simply walk you through the storytelling process. The "Happiness Is" style provides a way to organize favorite photos from your life complimented with simple sentiments in elegant layouts and a neutral palette. "Top Ten" is a versatile style that makes a quick and easy way to capture your travel adventures, highlights of a special event, or a year in review with only ten photos, and "Words of Faith" pairs your pictures with inspirational Bible verses about love, kindness and gratitude. Customers now have a choice of 71 different photo book styles with easy to use features and the ability to customize every page.
