LetsGoDigital finds news of a customised PowerShot S10 from Canon...

The good folks over at the LetsGoDigital.nl website have this afternoon posted news of a very interesting development from Canon. The company has apparently shown a customised PowerShot S10 digital camera with a Bluetooth module attached to one end that allows the unit to wirelessly transmit images, for example to a Bluetooth-capable inkjet printer.

As you can see in the image below, the Bluetooth module for the camera is about the same height and depth as the PowerShot S10 itself; we'd estimate from a quick measurement of the picture that the module is in the region of about 15mm wide - this would be about 15% of the volume of the camera, not too bad at all...

The printer used in the demonstration looks to be Canon's BJC-8200 with a Bluetooth module attached directly behind the paper tray (you can see the antenna in the image below):

LetsGoDigital saw the system demonstrated (look closely and you might see one of the folks behind the site somewhere on the page ;) The Bluetooth system has a range of 10 meters... Impressive stuff!

Thanks to LetsGoDigital.nl for giving us permission to use their images of Canon's Bluetooth setup in this news item! Be sure to keep an eye on their bilingual Dutch/English coverage of CeBIT 2001, live from the showfloor in Hanover, Germany!
