New camera firmware fixes two main bugs...

Nikon has released on its website a firmware update for the Coolpix 880 digital camera. Firmware version 1.1 for the Coolpix 880 has the following changes over version 1.0:
  • Improved camera operation with USB cable: The camera will no longer freeze occasionally when the camera is switched off after completing the data transmission to PC if the Mode Dial is set to the position other than Playback or SETUP.
  • Corrected spelling error in the English menu: The spelling of "Telephoto" has been corrected in the English menu.
  • Eliminated system error: A system error will no longer occur due to the momentary power outage that occurs when batteries are inserted or removed.
As always with firmware updates, we strongly recommend readers to follow Nikon's instructions to the letter. Incorrectly performed updates are a great way to turn your camera into a doorstop or paperweight... In particular, note that this update is only for the Nikon Coolpix 880 camera with software version 1.0 - do not use it on any other camera!
