09:00 EDT - Olympus has today announced its new C-5000 Zoom digital camera, an interesting-looking update to the C-4000 that adds a number of features in a smaller package.

Our apologies to readers who've seen this elsewhere already, and have been wondering why it hasn't been here. Olympus USA gave a specific time of 9AM Eastern for the announcement, but Olympus UK chose to go ahead at least five hours early - whilst we were asleep, naturally. Why does this kind of thing seem to happen on every announcement these days?

Pentax *ist D: US pricing info
09:25 EDT - We told readers last Friday of the announcement that Pentax's *ist D digital SLR will begin shipping next month, but at that time were unable to mention a price in our article. Pentax has now informed us that the camera will have a price of $1699.95 for the body only, or $1899.95 for the body plus an 18-35mm (27.5-53.5mm equivalent) lens.

We don't have pricing info for the 16mm-45mm DA lens at this time.
