Here, we can see the Canon 6D's raw noise performance appears to be very similar and even slightly better than that of the Canon 5D Mark III and Nikon D600, thanks in part to its slightly larger pixel pitch (6.55 microns versus 6.25 for the 5D Mark III and 5.9 for the D600). All three SLRs do better than the Sony A99, which is likely handicapped by its translucent mirror in the optical path. Overall, impressive noise performance from the Canon 6D's new 20-megapixel sensor.
