Sony A1 Image Quality Comparison

Below are crops from our laboratory Still Life target comparing the Sony Alpha 1's JPEG image quality to several competing cameras featuring either similar high-resolution sensors or price-points. For this comparison set, we're showing it up against its closest sibling camera, the 61MP Sony A7R Mark IV, as well as the models from other manufacturers, such as the Canon EOS R5, Nikon Z7 II and Panasonic S1R. We've also included the Sony A9. While the A9-series uses a much lower-res 24MP sensor compared to the 50MP Alpha 1, these two cameras likely have some overlap when it comes to potential buyers as they are both aimed at the professional market.

NOTE: These images are from best quality JPEGs straight out of the camera, at default settings including noise reduction and using the camera's actual base ISO (not extended ISO settings). All cameras in this comparison were shot with our very sharp reference lenses.
