Panasonic: New firmware for Power Zoom lenses

Panasonic Corp. has today announced new firmware for its two Lumix G X lens models, which offer power zoom functionality that makes them well-suited for video recording.

In both cases, the new firmware for the LUMIX G X VARIO PZ 14-42mm / F3.5-5.6 ASPH. / POWER O.I.S. (H-PS14042) and LUMIX G X VARIO PZ 45-175mm / F4.0-5.6 ASPH. / POWER O.I.S. (H-PS45175) brings improved touch zoom operation with the Panasonic GX1 system camera, and greater autofocus performance for both still and video capture. In addition, the 45-175mm lens firmware improves stability of the optical image stabilizer function.

The firmware isn't yet available, but is slated for worldwide availability from 6:00am GMT on November 17, 2011. For our US readers, that equates to 1:00am Nov 17th on the east coast, or 10pm Nov 16th for the west coast. If you're elsewhere in the world, you can find the release times here.

Panasonic announces the new firmware update program for the digital interchangeable lenses of LUMIX G Micro System. The new firmware programs are available for LUMIX G X VARIO PZ 14-42mm / F3.5-5.6 ASPH. / POWER O.I.S. (H-PS14042) and LUMIX G X VARIO PZ 45-175mm / F4.0-5.6 ASPH. / POWER O.I.S. (H-PS45175) to enhance the performance of each lens.

The firmware programs will be available worldwide at GMT 6:00 on November 17, 2011 at the Panasonic LUMIX Official Support Website: http://panasonic.jp/support/global/cs/dsc/.
