Adobe revel logotype with icon rgb vertical-300x222Adobe has announced it is rebranding Adobe Carousel as Adobe Revel. The company plans to offer additional photography solutions on the platform in the future, so the new branding more broadly encompasses these offerings.

According to the Photoshop.com blog, current users will see the name of the app change when they update. Revel 1.1 features "some minor fixes," including imports from the Camera Roll on your iPhone and iPad and photo sharing via Flickr.

While the update on our iPad was without issue, updating from the App Store on our MacBook Pro failed with a "hash mismatch error" after several attempts. Adobe, aware of the issue, suggested deleting Carousel from our Applications folder and installing Revel from scratch (rather than updating). That worked.

Adobe said the word "carousel" won't be entirely retired, however. It will still be used to refer to a library of photos within Revel.

As Carousel, the app has been downloaded almost four million times since its release.
