Nature-photographyWe've shared photography tutorial videos with you recently on how to photograph a hamburger and how to shoot a steaming hot cup of coffee in the studio. Now, here's a how-to discussion on a completely different topic: The Basics of Nature Photography by National Geographic photographer Michael Melford.

In this seminar-style video, which was shot for the B&H Photo and Video store, Melford shares anecdotes and tips on how he captured his stunning images of nature and wildlife for National Geographic Traveler and other publications. (Melford has published numerous photo essays and books for National Geographic, National Geographic Traveler, LIFE magazine, and publications.)

First, a word of warning about the video. At over an hour and half, it's rather long, but we think it's worth it. So grab yourself a cup of coffee (or a cool drink), and sit back and enjoy.

If you're like us, once you start hearing Melford's intriguing and often humorous stories of how he made his gorgeous photos, you'll want to watch the video straight to the end.
