If you're shooting a Nikon 1-series camera, your options for first-party prime lenses just tripled: the company has revealed a brand-new 1-mount lens option in the runup to the Photokina tradeshow.

The new 1 Nikkor 18.5mm f/1.8 is the brightest option available from Nikon for its nascent mount, which launched a little under a year ago. It's also the lightest 1-mount lens, at just 2.5 ounces, besting the 10mm f/2.8 prime and 11-27.5mm f/3.5-5.6 zoom--both weighing 2.8 ounces--by just over ten percent.

The optical formula for the 1 Nikkor 18.5mm consists of eight elements in six groups, and there's a seven-bladed aperture. Taking into account the 1-mount's 2.7x focal length crop, the 18.5mm focal length translates to 50mm on a 35mm camera.

The 1 Nikkor 18.5mm f/1.8 prime lens will ship from early November 2012, priced at about US$190. Three versions will be available to match your camera's body color: black, white, or silver. More details on our sister site, SLRgear.com.
