If you're shooting with the tiny Pentax Q10 mirrorless camera, you'll want to install a new firmware update released by the company yesterday, as it will likely bring a noticeable improvement in your photos.

That's because the new update, firmware version 1.01, offers improved autofocus performance. Faster focusing means you're less likely to miss your shot, or find your subject's expression has become less than spontaneous. And since the Q10 offers an option of shooting in release priority, an improvement in AF performance also increases the likelihood that the shot will be in focus by the time you release the shutter.

New firmware improves focus performance for Pentax's colorful Q10 compact system camera.

As is typical with updates from Pentax, the new firmware includes unspecified improvements to overall stability. While we don't know what these entail, greater stability is certainly good news, so even if you shoot solely with manual focus you'll want to apply the update regardless.

More details and the firmware itself can be found on the Pentax website.
