Joby, makers of the ultra-popular Gorillapod flexible tripods, has announced two new small tripods, one each for compact cameras and smartphones,

The GPod Mini Magnetic is designed to take your favorite little point-and-shoot or GoPro and attach it to a metal surface courtesy of three magnetic legs. The mini-tripod has magnetic feet suitable for latching on to most metal surfaces, as well as wrapping around small pillars and balancing on uneven surfaces. With an asking price of just $14.95, it'll hold up to 11.5oz of gear stable.

The MPod Mini Stand likewise will set you back just under $15, but doesn't have those nifty magnetic feet. But, what it can do, is mount just about any smartphone in an adjustable grip — even if you have a bulky case on it. As long as your smartphone isn't more than 3.2-inches wide, or 0.45-inches deep, it should be able to wedge it in place (according to Joby, that's around the size of the Samsung Galaxy Note or smaller). Weighing in at just 1.06oz, it's small enough and light enough that you can easily take it in a bag with you — you could even use it as a car mount if you use your phone for GPS directions.
