When silver isn’t: Leica launches confusingly-named D-LUX 6 Silver Edition

Fancy picking up a Leica D-LUX 6 digital camera, the famed German photographic icon's variation on the Panasonic LX7? If so, you've now a new body color to choose from, in the form of the Leica D-LUX 6 Silver Edition.

Somewhat bewilderingly, though, the D-LUX 6 Silver Edition isn't... silver, that is. It's predominantly finished in high-gloss black, with only the lens barrel clad in silver finish. Sure, that's still a lot more silver than the standard, matte-black D-LUX 6, but we can't help but feel that photographers who see the name "Silver Edition" are going to expect a largely silver camera.

Be that as it may, though, the D-LUX 6 Silver Edition is certainly eyecatching, and if that's what you're after, you'll be able to pick one up from December 2013. (Just in time to pop it under the Christmas tree, if you happen to celebrate that particular festival!)

And whether you choose the Silver or standard editions, Leica has also announced a new lambskin Napa leather pouch, available in black only. No pricing has been revealed for either item.
