IR publisher Dave Etchells and news editor Mike Tomkins spent much of today shooting with full-production units of the groundbreaking, full-frame mirrorless Sony A7 and Sony A7R (A7 vs A7R) cameras at a special press event in Nashville. We just uploaded the first batch of photos to our servers, and have posted these sample gallery images taken with both cameras for you to analyze and enjoy:

For those not familiar with them, the Sony A7 not only features a 24.3-megapixel, full-frame sensor in a compact, mirrorless system camera body, but also a hybrid autofocus system with on-chip phase detect pixels for fast AF performance and better tracking. Sony also touts the A7 as having a faster burst shooting speed than its higher-resolution sibling. The Sony A7R is definitely all about its resolving power, built around a whopping 36.4-megapixel, full-frame sensor that boasts almost 50% more pixels than the A7. The Sony A7 will retail for about US$1,700 body only, or US$2,000 kitted with the Sony FE 28-70mm f/3.5-5.6 OSS lens. The Sony A7R will ship for $2,300 body only, and doesn't come in a kit. Both models are expected to be available in early December.
