Planning on buying the Nikon D5300 digital SLR? If so, you'll want to be aware of a potential compatibility issue when shooting with Sigma lenses using an internal focus motor, one which the company is working on correcting.

The lenses will largely work as intended, but the optical stabilizer may not function correctly, and the same is true of autofocus in live view mode. If you can live without those functions, you should be able to continue to use your lenses for the time being, but Sigma notes that it will provide updates that fix current products on November 20th. Some discontinued products may be updated, but others where the necessary repair parts have been discontinued, an update may not be possible. For lenses compatible with Sigma's USB dock (shown above), you should be able to update the firmware yourself.
