A few months back, we posted a roundup of the top six waterproof cameras on the market, with a complete rundown on each, sample pictures, the works. But who cares about a waterproof camera now, when it's winter? Other than tropical getaways, you probably don't think "waterproof camera" in the middle of winter.

The thing is, these aren't just waterproof cameras, they're true "tough" cameras as well. Besides being waterproof, every camera we tested is also shockproof and freezeproof, just the ticket for schussing down a mountain (either on your skis or off of them).

We didn't take the manufacturer's word for it either, we actually chilled each camera down to the 14 degrees F they claimed as their lowest operating temperature, and verified that they all worked properly. We also dropped all six cameras three times each from a height of four feet onto a linoleum-covered concrete floor - So no worries if the camera ends up on the bottom as you make your 37th sitz-mark.

If you're looking for a camera to bring on your winter vacation that won't freeze, leak, or break, head on over to our 2013 Tough/Waterproof Camera Shootout to find the one that's best for you!
