Earlier this month, parts of France were hammered by a huge storm and rains, flooding parts of Brittany. To capture the power and devestation of the weather, famed photographer Philip Plisson took to the skies, documenting natures fury from a helicopter.

The storm, called Petra, hit parts of France extremely hard, leaving many without power or flooded. Plisson's powerful shots from his flight show lighthouses and coastal buildings being hit by enormous waves. The lightouse La Jument, famed for being in another storm photo taken by helicopter, was in waves reaching up most of its height.

We can only imagine how terrifying it must have been to be flying a helicopter through a storm like that—let alone leaning out the door, and trying to snap photos while being buffeted by the winds. But Plisson's photos do an incredible job of showing just how big and terrifying those waves must have been.
