LinkedIn has announced it’s acquired online education platform, Lynda.com for $1.5 billion.

For those of unfamiliar familiar with Lynda.com, it’s an online education platform with an extensive library of video guides and tutorials across hundreds of topics and a handful of languages. Its mission is to help improve people’s careers by giving them knowledge and expertise they might not have had the time or money to learn elsewhere.

LinkedIn on the other hand connects professionals across the world in a business-oriented social network.

It’s not difficult to see how the two could team up for a match made in heaven, but details on how the two will be integrated still seems up in the air.

For now, it appears as though the two will continue to operate independently, albeit under one large umbrella, until they determine the best integration.
