Two months ago, we shared with you the latest Fujifilm X-mount lens roadmap. Today, the first of three expected lenses from Fujifilm’s 2015 lineup makes its way to the public.

Meet the Fujinon XF 16mm f/1.4 R WR wide-angle lens, Fujinon’s first weather sealed prime.

The 24mm-equivalent lens consists of 13 elements in 11 groups, including two extra low-dispersion elements and two aspherical elements to better handle lateral, axial, spherical and chromatic aberrations. A Nano GI Coating is also present on the rear lens element to further prevent ghosting and flare.

In addition to the smooth bokeh from the 9-blade aperture design, the lens can further enhance shallow depth of field with its 5.9 in (15cm) minimum focusing distance. This close focusing distance is capable thanks in part to Fujifilm’s ‘Floating Focus System,’ which uses two groups of elements to better lock focus.

The Fujinon XF 16mm f/1.4 R WR is set to go on sale in May 2015 for $999.95. You can pre-order it now through B&H and Amazon. An optional lens hood will also be available for the Fujinon XF 16mm f/1.4 R WR in September 2015, but no price has been announced.

You can take a look at the full press release and specifications over on SLR Gear.
