Legoizer turns any photograph into a blueprint for a custom Lego mural

Lego bricks are, quite literally, the building blocks of many young minds. But just because your mind isn’t as young as it once was doesn’t mean you can’t have fun with Lego bricks, especially when the project also involves photography.

Enter Legoizer, a web app that can take any image, turn it into a pixellated piece of art, and list every single brick you will need to reproduce the image in Lego form. Not only does Legoizer break down every brick you will need to complete the project, but it also gives the final size of the ‘print’ and its instructions, line by line, as to how to build it, if the mosaic image alone isn’t enough to go off of.

Below is a side-by-side comparison of an image I captured while shooting the Indianapolis 500 and the resulting mosaic version.

Below are just a few of the bricks I would need to complete the project, which would turn out to be 5’3” wide and 3’3” tall (160cm x 99cm), according to the app.

The options are only as limited as your Lego collection and your photo library. Head over to Legoizer to try it for yourself. If you have the time, Lego bricks and dedication to complete a Lego print, be sure to leave a photo of it in the comments below.
