Facebook has unveiled Moments, a new standalone mobile app that’s meant to simplify the process of building and sharing collaborative photo albums.

Available for both iOS and Android, the app groups together photographs from your smartphone using time, people and location. Using Facebook’s facial recognition technology, the app can automatically parse through your friends and suggest what friends you want to share the album with. Once shared, the participants can choose their own photos to sync, making for a collaborative album with minimal hassle.

The idea is that no image is left behind. Rather than a group of friends each having their own collection of photos from a particular event or adventure, you can now have different photos from every angle, making for a more immersive and diverse album when looking back.

Moments is available now, for free, in the United States on the Apple App Store and Google Play.
