Visual Supply Co. (VSCO) has announced DSCO, a brand new iOS app that lets you easily create animated GIFs from video captured with your iPhone.

Right on the heels of the announcement of Instagram’s GIF-creation app, Boomerang, DSCO offers similar functionality, but hopes to set itself apart using VSCO’s signature aesthetic.

The process of creating an animated GIF is simple. Capture the video you want to turn into a GIF, apply one of the five provided presets — similar to those offered in VSCO — and share the GIF. Once uploaded to VSCO, you can share with Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr and Instagram, as well as any other apps you have set in iOS’ share sheet.

It’s worth noting that one of the presets was made in collaboration with MTV and will only be available for a week. VSCO CEO Joel Flory says more promotional presets will be available as time goes on.

There’s not much to the app, but that’s precisely the point. Capture your video, edit the aesthetics and share as an animated GIF.

DSCO is available as a free download in the iOS App Store. DSCO is currently an iOS exclusive and unless otherwise noted, VSCO says that’s unlikely to change in the near future.
