When you chimp you lose: Guilty chimper misses the best moment of the game

Many of us have been there before. You're capturing images and you go to look at your awesome, freshly-captured shots on your camera's monitor and when you look back up, you realize you've missed something critical.

For a photographer at a New Orleans kickball match, ill-timed 'chimping' cost her a chance to capture an incredible display of athleticism. This isn't the kickball you played on the playground in elementary school.

Andrew Moise, aptly nicknamed 'Gumby,' was headed toward home plate and to avoid being hit with the ball, he did a front flip before grazing the plate with his hand on the way down. While this brilliant play occurred, a nearby photographer was chimping.

Let this be a lesson to all of us: don't chimp. It's hard to tell if you captured a good image on your camera's monitor, it's better to just worry about shooting when you're out in the field.

If you need another reason not to chimp, take a look at the video below. If the photographer in St. Bart's had been chimping, he might very well be dead or badly injured.

Consider this a public service announcement: Don't chimp, it could get you killed, and at the very least, you might just miss capturing the best moment of the game.
