Nikon has announced the next model in its lineup of rugged adventure cameras, this time in the form of the Coolpix W300. The main upgrade to the previous AW130 is the addition of 4K UHD video capture, allowing users to capture videos in UHD (3840x2160/30p) resolution.

“For those experiencing a once in a lifetime vacation or adventure, the Coolpix W300 is an exciting rugged and lightweight camera option, offering an advanced feature-set that delivers stunning image quality, improved handling and advanced performance to easily capture fast-action moments and 4K UHD video,” said Kosuke Kawaura, Director of Marketing and Planning, Nikon Inc.

Among other updates and changes, the Nikon W300 offers a dedicated button to activate an LED light for illumination, and a new "Active Guide" to easily display location and altitude data.  The camera also features "Hybrid VR", and Nikon suggests that with its use users can expect up to three stops of hand-holding stabilization.

The Nikon Coolpix W300 will be available in red, orange and yellow color schemes, is slated to ship in summer 2017, and has a suggested retail price of US$389.95. See our Nikon W300 Preview for more!
