When Sony announced the A9, they also unveiled the first long telephoto zoom for E-mount, the Sony FE 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 GM OSS. This lens not only has a distinct place in the E-mount lineup, but also it's a lens many Sony shooters have been clamoring for. Add in that it is a "G Master" lens and it's fair to say that expectations and excitement levels have been high. We've been able to go hands-on with the new 100-400mm zoom lens, and we can safely say, the wait has been worth it.

The lens not only has a high build quality, but also its optics are excellent throughout the range on both APS-C and full-frame cameras. Even at 400mm, the lens offers very good image quality across the entire image frame, an impressive feat for a 100-400mm zoom lens.
