Canon announces the EOS M100, replacing the M10 as Canon’s new entry-level mirrorless camera

After Canon released the EOS M5 and M6 last year and earlier this year, respectively, the M10 stood as something of a lone survivor at the entry-level end of the M lineup. With the new Canon EOS M100, the M10 is now being replaced. The M100 shares many features with the M5 and M6, including the image sensor, DIGIC 7 processor and Dual Pixel CMOS AF, but shares the purpose of the M10 in providing a gateway for smartphone photographers to move towards a more versatile interchangeable lens camera.
In the spirit of transitioning beginners to a more capable camera, the M100 includes Creative Assist functionality and a simplified and revamped touch-based user interface. That doesn't mean that the camera isn't versatile, however, as it still offers manual shooting modes and promising specs for an entry-level camera.
