Want to ditch your backpack? Pixentu launches “world’s most functional photography jacket”

How often have you been out in the field and wished you didn't have to carry so much gear in your backpack or wished something could be within a hand's reach? If you're like me, it happens quite a lot. I've tried carrying gear in a jacket, but jackets aren't designed with photographers in mind…until now. Pixentu has launched a new Kickstarter campaign for a jacket for photographers.
The jacket has an extended hood so that you can shoot in the rain while keeping the elements off your gear, a travel tripod compartment (it would have to be a very small tripod, I'm sure), an isolated lens compartment, a camera compartment, a pocket for film canisters, storage for memory cards, extra batteries and more. I am personally a bit skeptical about being able to comfortably carry everything I store in my backpack in a jacket, but it would be nice to have jacket pockets designed specifically for camera gear. Plus having your valuables in your jacket seems more secure than having them in a bag on your back.
At the time of writing, the campaign is nearing its funding goal with 37 days remaining in the campaign, so it looks promising that photographers wanting a photography jacket will get their wish with Pixentu. With a pledge of around US$130, you can secure a "super early bird" Pixentu jacket in navy blue or black and the style and size of your choice. You can learn more about Pixentu by clicking here.
