Leica announces pancake Elmarit-TL 18mm f/2.8 ASPH. lens for Leica L-mount

Alongside their new Leica CL camera, the German company has also released a new L-mount lens for their APS-C camera system, the Leica Elmarit-TL 18mm f/2.8 ASPH. lens. The L-mount lens has a 27mm equivalent focal length and an aperture range of f/2.8 to f/16.
The ASPH. lens has four aspherical surfaces and a pancake form factor. The lens is only 0.83 inches (21 millimeters) long and has a 2.4 inch (61 millimeter) diameter. The lens weighs a paltry 2.8 ounces (80 grams). With its 39mm filter thread, this is one small Leica lens. In total, the optic has eight lens elements across six groups. The lens has full-time manual focus override, although its focus ring appears to be very thin. It does have a ridged surface, so hopefully that helps make focusing easier.
