Even when conditions for landscape photography seem bad, sometimes persistence pays off. In the video below, Nigel Danson showcases how quickly conditions can change when out in the field. The key component in any good landscape image is light and light is shaped outdoors in many cases by clouds. On a windy day, while it can make working difficult, clouds move much faster and this makes for very dynamic lighting conditions.

In case you're curious, Danson's primary landscape camera is a Nikon D810. His go-to lenses include Nikon 16-35mm f/4, Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8 and Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8 zooms.
