Adobe has announced the release of Photoshop 19.1 for Mac and Windows. The new software update is highlighted by "Select Subject" functionality. There are many more additions, so let's dig into Photoshop 19.1 and see what's new.

The big new feature is Select Subject. The feature is powered by Adobe Sensei and lets you start selections quicker than ever. Select Subject automatically selects prominent subjects in your image with a single click and then you can refine the selection further. You can read more about it here and see it in action below.

For selection refinement, select and mask has been improved as well. There's a new decontamination slider. This ability was already in the Refine Edge dialog box, but now it's in the Select and Mask workspace as well.

In addition to general bug fixes, Microsoft Windows users in particular have numerous improvements. For Photoshop users on Windows 10 Creator's Edition, you can now scale the user interface in 25% increments from 100% through 400%. This will greatly improve the experience for users with high-density monitors. The team at Adobe worked with Microsoft on this functionality and it even allows users the option to scale Photoshop differently on separate displays. For example, you can scale the software for a laptop display and then scale it differently for a plugged in external display. Further, Microsoft users with a Microsoft Dial now have access to additional functionality and control.
