5 things you should avoid doing when shooting portraits

It's important to know what sort of things you should do when photographing people, but it's perhaps just as important to know things you shouldn't do when capturing portraits. In the video below, Manny Ortiz gives us five things you should avoid when shooting portraiture.

The first thing you should not do is go to your favorite location to start a shoot. Give yourself some time to warm up before exhausting your preferred location. Try some different spots or different ideas before getting to the ideas you anticipated would be the best. The second thing you should avoid is being afraid of taking bad photos. Everyone, even the pros, take bad photos. Sure, their "bad photo" might still be pretty good but being afraid of failure is a sure-fire way to fail.
