Photographer Adam Gibbs opens his latest video with clips from other vlogs in which he talks about light. Sometimes he remarks that the light isn't working out, other times he talks about how it's hitting just the right part of a landscape. No matter whether light is good or bad, it's always at the center of photography. The trick is not only finding the right light -- and oftentimes that's a matter of luck -- but learning how to better recognize when the light is good or when it might be on its way to becoming good.

"It's all about the light," Gibbs says. Photographer George Eastman also had a great quote about light, "Embrace light. Admire it. Love it. But above all, know light. Know it for all you are worth, and you will know the key to photography." These words ring clearly true. If only it were as simple to find great light as it is to understand light's importance.

In Gibbs' video below, which is all about light, he discusses tips about what to look for when waiting for the right light and some signs you can learn to recognize which offer hints about when there is potential for amazing light. He also shares a lot of fantastic images captured over his career with cameras such as the Nikon D800, Canon 5D Mark II, Mamiya 645, Toho Shimo FC-45X, Nikon F4s and FM2 cameras and the new Nikon D850. Sit back, relax and enjoy a fantastic discussion on light and some truly incredible landscape photography.
