In case you missed it, yesterday Adobe released a large update to their Lightroom ecosystem, including the addition of new "Profiles." The profiles, which include what used to be known as "camera profiles," essentially act as a unified preset system.

The video below from Anthony Morganti does a good job summarizing three of the biggest additions to Lightroom Classic CC in particular, which is now updated to version 7.3. In prior versions of Lightroom, presets were not compatible across Lightroom and Adobe Camera Raw. With the new "profiles" system, that is no longer the case.

While Morganti thinks the updates are major -- hence his video above -- Ted Forbes with The Art of Photography goes even further. He thinks that the updates are "the most significant updates [Adobe] have put out in the last 10 years." Why does he think this? Profiles adjust how Lightroom and Adobe Camera Raw render your RAW files and by unifying and improving this rendering system, Adobe has taken a big step forward toward not only allowing you to get better results, but also working more efficiently.

There you have it, two photographers with a pair of positive takes on the new Adobe Lightroom and Adobe Camera Raw updates. Have you had the chance to update your copy of Lightroom yet and try the new "Profiles" system in addition to the other updates? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
