Skylum Software, formerly known as Macphun, has released a large update to their Luminar photo editing software, dubbed Luminar Jupiter.
The award-winning photo editor promises increased performance on both Mac and Windows, with the update offering up to 12x and 5x faster performance respectively. Further, the software also introduces more than 300 updates and improvements overall and brings numerous new features to the Windows version, better closing the gap between the Mac and PC versions of the software.
New for both versions of Luminar Jupiter are automatic lens corrections and improved RAW conversion. On Mac, there are also new advanced digital camera profiles. Windows users are getting 10 new features, including batch processing, improved cloning and masking controls, free transform, flip and rotate tools, plugin support and shared workspaces, which were previously already available for Mac. As mentioned above, in total there are more than 300 updates and improvements in the new Luminar Jupiter software.
Looking closer at the new RAW conversion engine in particular, users can expect better exposure calculation, cleaner gradients, fewer halos, more compatible cameras and better elimination of chromatic aberrations.
Of Luminar Jupiter, Skylum CEO Alex Tsepko says, "Our loyal community of users continue to offer ideas for additional features that would benefit their respective workflows and we continue to listen, learn and improve. Our goal is to produce a fast, easy, and feature-rich imaging software that can offer both single-click solutions as well as custom functions for those who want absolute control.
With respect to increased speed, Luminar Jupiter has been designed to be much quicker with respect to sliders, opening images, applying filters and more. Some users may see sliders in particular behave up to 25x faster. There are also user interface improvements designed to speed up workflows.
The update is available now as a free update to owners of Luminar 2018. Users of Luminar 2017 can upgrade to Luminar 2018 for $49. New customers can download and purchase the software for $69. You can learn more and download a trial here.
