Photographing migratory birds in low light with a Nikon D5 and 180-400mm f/4 telephoto zoom

Danish nature photographer Morten Hilmer has been visiting the western coast of Denmark, which is one of his favorite areas to photograph birds and landscapes.

Every spring, kittiwakes, a migratory seabird, comes to cliffs in the Thy National Park to breed. It's a stunning scene as we see in Hilmer's behind-the-scenes video below.
