A great photo is often one which evokes emotion from the viewer. It can transport to you a place in the case of an awesome landscape photo, or perhaps make you feel a certain way. Creating this ever-important emotional connection is one of the most challenging aspects of photography. If you have all the technical know-how, it can prove relatively easy to capture a technically good image. Good exposure is a heck of a lot easier to achieve than good emotion. How do professional photographers capture and create emotion?

Marc Silber of Advancing Your Photography chatted with five photographers: adventure photographer Chris Burkard, Patagonia staff and adventure photographer Jeff Johnson, celebrity portrait photographers Brian Smith and Matthew Jordan Smith and portrait and wedding photographer Bambi Cantrell. In the video below, we hear directly from these five photographers as they explain how they create emotion and mojo in their photography.
