ON1 Photo RAW 2019 announced: Arriving this fall with improved layers, better local adjustments & more

During Photokina 2018, the team at ON1 announced their latest photo editing software, ON1 Photo RAW 2019. The Lightroom competitor is coming this November and includes many improvements over ON1 Photo RAW 2018. Let’s take a closer look at the announcement and what users can expect come this November.
There are many new features and improvements, but one of the biggest ones is a brand-new workflow for layers. For photographers trying to make complex and fine-tuned adjustments to their images, a non-destructive layer-based workflow is an irreplaceable part of their workflow. Previously, Layers was its own module, but now it is fully integrated within Develop and Effects modules. On the topic of improved photo editing, ON1 has stated that local adjustments will also be improved in the 2019 version of the software, including better highlight and shadow detail recovery.
Further, for those who currently use Lightroom, ON1 Photo RAW 2019 will make it easier than ever to switch. ON1 Photo RAW 2019 employs AI-powered algorithms to transfer images you edited in Lightroom and then keep non-destructive settings attached to the files as you import them. In addition to the layers and Lightroom import improvements, Photo RAW 2019 also includes a new portrait module, which will automatically detect faces and provide ways to smooth skin, brighten and sharpen eyes and whiten teeth. There will be a way to focus stack images and auto-align layers as well. The software will also include a layered HDR workflow, filter options in the Effects module, improved user interface and more. ON1 Photo RAW 2019 will be available in November and there are three purchase options. For existing owners, you can preorder and get an upgrade price of $79.99. For new users, the full version of ON1 Photo RAW 2019 will be $99.99. There is also a $129.99 option which includes the software plus one year of ON1 Plus. Photo RAW 2019 will be available for Mac and Windows.
