Sigma’s new “Safari & Sidelines” full-frame 60-600mm f/4.5-6.3 Sports lens is now shipping

As of today, the Sigma 60-600mm f/4.5-6.3 DG OS HSM Sports lens is available through Sigma authorized resellers for $1,999 USD in Canon and Nikon mounts.

The full-frame lens was debuted at Photokina 2018 and is designed to be the ultimate one-lens solution for nature, wildlife, sports, action and other types of creative photography. It is the world’s first full-frame 10x optical zoom with a tele end of 600mm and incorporates 25 elements in 19 groups, including a trio of “F” low dispersion elements and a single Special Low Dispersion element. The image stabilization system is rated to deliver up to four stops of shake correction. Further, at 200mm, the lens can deliver a maximum magnification ratio of 1:3.3.

 
 

Regarding build quality, the lens incorporates a magnesium alloy produced at Sigma’s new state-of-the-art Sigma Aizu factory in Fukushima, Japan, and is designed to be lightweight yet durable. The lens uses a combination of metals and carbon reinforced plastics to keep the weight under six pounds (2.7 kilograms). The lens is just over 10.5 inches (268.9 millimeters) long and has a maximum diameter of 4.74 inches (120.4 millimeters). The lens has a front filter thread of 105mm. The structure is also splash and dust proof. Regarding the zooming mechanism, it has been designed for smooth rotation and straight zoom throughout the entire 10x range.
