Our Firmware Friday roundup this week is a fairly short affair, with news only for users of Fujifilm and Sigma products. (If you're not amongst that group, might we suggest checking our recent Tamron 17-35mm f/2.8-4 and Nikon 500mm f/5.6 lens field tests instead?)

For those of you who're still with us, let's move along and see what's new!

Fujifilm GFX 50S, X-T100, XF10 and software

Starting off with the biggest news, firmware version 3.30 for the Fuji GFX 50S (download here) makes four changes as follows:

  1. Supports “35mm Format Mode” when using GF Lens and H mount adapter
“35mm Format Mode” crops the center of the sensor 36.0mm x 24.0mm(30.5M) and records JPEG and RAW file.

  2. Improved eye-sensor response
Reduced the time to switch between EVF and LCD when you select “eye-sensor” on the viewfinder display settings.

  3. Supports simultaneous delete for RAW and JPEG files
When RAW / JPEG is selected in the card slot setting (for still image), RAW/JPEG image can be deleted simultaneously. By selecting “OFF”, only the RAW image will be deleted.

  4. Supports EVF and LCD color adjustment
Color of EVF/LCD is adjustable from screen setting menu.

Firmware version 1.20 for the Fuji X-T100 (download here) shows three entries on the change log:

  1. Performance and stability of the main subject recognition function are improved.

  2. Improvement of the exposure compensation dial response.

  3. Fix of slight defects.

Firmware version 1.10 for the Fujifilm XF10 (download here), meanwhile, includes all of the changes from the X-T100 plus one more:

  1. The phenomenon is fixed that the highlight warning doesn’t appear in INFO display.

That just leaves a raft of software news. Raw File Converter EX 3.0 version 8.0.1.0 (download for Windows / Mac OS) adds support for the GFX 50R camera and (on Mac only, obviously) support for the MacOS Mojave operating system. And the Tethered Shooting Software version 1.12.0 update (download here for Windows only) is much the same, adding support for wired or wireless tethered shooting and camera settings backup/restoration with the GFX 50R.

But the X Raw Studio version 1.5.0 update (download for Windows / Mac OS) is a bit bigger, including the following:

  1. Applicable model for the "FUJIFILM X RAW STUDIO" is added.
    Applicable Model:FUJIFILM GFX 50R

  2. Easier method to check converted condition is added.

    1. If you hover a pointer on an item in the list like FILM SIMULATION and so on, the preview image switches immediately.

  3. Operability is improved.

    1. Connection between a RAW FILE image and a converted image (JPG/TIFF) in the same folder is displayed on the thumbnail image list as a link.

    2. By drag & drop of an image in the thumbnail image list, you can copy it to Explorer and activate software like Photoshop and so on.

  4. Performance of the image list display, conversion speed and so on are improved

    1. Thumbnail image can be displayed and you can handle it during image loading.

    2. Options of Preview Image Type (High Image Quality/High Speed/None) are added (Mac OS only)

Sigma MC-11 mount converter (SA-E and EF-E)

Which just leaves Sigma's MC-11 mount converter for this week. Firmware version 1.14 for the SA-E variant of the MC-11 and firmware version 1.20 for the EF-E variant both add support for the SIGMA 70-200mm F2.8 DG OS HSM | Sports lens and make no other changes. The updates can be installed using Sigma Optimization Pro and the bundled USB cable for your mount converter.

And that's all for this week. Be sure to check back next time for more firmware news!
