Well, well, well, what do we have here? It appears, based on this just-released teaser video, that the folks over at Olympus are getting ready to announce a brand new camera. Happy days, Micro Four Thirds fans!

Being just a teaser video, the details are obviously a little scarce, other than the date for the full-on announcement: January 24th, 2019. Mark your calendars, folks!

Avid Olympus fans will know that they've been notably absent amongst the recent slew of camera announcements, particularly from the last half of 2018. There are a few popular Olympus cameras that are due for a refresh, including the E-M5 Mark II and PEN-F, which debuted all the way back in 2015 and 2016, respectively. Even Olympus' current flagship OM-D camera, the beefy E-M1 Mark II came out in 2016 and could do nicely with some updates.

Based on the video, we can see the shapes and contours of this yet-to-be-released camera, and it appears to show a large, E-M1-esque camera (sorry PEN-F fans, looks like it's still a waiting game for that model's refresh). We've witnessed a lot of new high-end and pro-oriented mirrorless cameras recently from other manufacturers, so to have a new E-M1-style, pro-tier Olympus camera join the ranks seems both likely and highly welcome.

Whatever the camera, we're excited to see what's arriving from Olympus, come January 24th!
