LaCie announces new compact and portable drives for the creative professional

Seagate's premium brand LaCie has announced two new products ahead of CES in Las Vegas this week, both specifically focused and tailored to address needs in the creative professional community: the LaCie Mobile Drive and the LaCie Mobile SSD. Featuring up to 5TB of storage capacity, the Mobile Drive is an extremely compact external hard drive housed in a sleek and modern design. The Mobile SSD mirrors many features found in the Portable SSD we recently reviewed, and offers up to 2TB of storage that can be transferred at a blistering 540MB/s.

I briefly mentioned the modern design, and both the Mobile Drive and Mobile SSD have a new diamond-cut design complementing Apple's MacBook aesthetics and is a departure from the bright orange of the Rugged line or the glossy finish of the Porche line. LaCie Mobile Drive features a 2-year limited warranty, while LaCie Mobile SSD offers a 3-year limited warranty and a 3-year subscription to Seagate Rescue Data Recovery plan. Both new drives are available in January.
