Are you ready for the step up from your smartphone to the versatility of an interchangeable-lens camera? If so, Canon would love for you to consider its EOS M50, and after reviewing the camera ourselves, we think it's well worth a look. With an affordable pricetag that puts it just a couple of hundred dollars above the most affordable model in Canon's mirrorless camera lineup, the M50 nevertheless sports a built-in electronic viewfinder and a side-mounted, tilt/swivel, touch-screen LCD monitor, two very worthwhile features its slightly lesser-priced siblings lack.

The M50 was also the first in Canon's EOS series to sport a new DIGIC 8 processor, and in concert with its 24-megapixel sensor, it yields both very good image quality and swift performance. But the camera's newly-added 4K video capture capability comes with some very important gotchas which may limit its utility for videographers, and there are a couple of other shortcomings which may push you further up Canon's line in search of your ideal camera.

For more on these concerns -- and to see how the M50 performs in other respects -- you'll want to read our in-depth Canon M50 review. And for those of you who just want to get right to the final verdict, you can read the conclusion of our review here.
